About
Us
Amy (full name Amy Lynn Hixson)
Occupation: Student at Cal State Long Beach
Major[s]: Nursing
and Spanish Translation
Desired Career: Family Nurse Practitioner
Work: Gymnastic Instructor
most of the time and recently Kindergarten teacher (so a bunch
of the 5-year-olds are in love with her)
Personality: Way chill,
way smart, way caring, way way funny
Other: Beautiful, fair skinned, a real catch for Gage
Life Story: Born in Sacramento, CA-lived there
for "a day"and then her family moved to Los
Banos, CA. She is the third of 6 children [2 boys, 2 girls of which she
is the oldest, and two more boys]. During high school, Amy enjoyed keeping herself
busy to the point of insanity with volleyball, swimming, zero periods [that's
before school school], cheerleading, student body vice-presidency, an after-school
job or two, and, most important, her favorite passion: gymnastics.
She did flips, tumbles, and half-gainers for 14 years until her
shoulder finally gave out resulting in total reconstructive surgery.
Although accepted all over, she regrouped after the injury and
decided to come to Cal State Long Beach where she's in her second
year. Without going into the exhaustive details, she has been
an over-achiever from conception and doesn't show signs of slowing
down except, of course, slowing down a sec. to hang out with and marry me.
Gage (full name
Gage Christopher Duran)

The University of Southern California
Major[s]: Architecture
Desired Career: Architect

Amy- she's hilarious!]

for Amy

Chicago]-lived there for three years and then his family moved
to nearby Winnetka. He
is the second of 4 children [1 older sister and the oldest of 3
boys]. A professional fort builder since birth, at age 18
he decided to go pro and came out to Southern California to study
Architecture. After a year, he went off on a two-year LDS
mission to Venezuela. Upon returning to the States, he continued
his education at 'SC and will be graduating in May from their 5-year
program. He's ever grateful Amy has chosen to free
up some time in her busy over-achieving life to make him a permanent
part of it.
 How
We Met
Amy's
Story:
Gage and I first met through
our friend, Katie Higdon (Thanks by the way Katie.) The
first time I actually got to hang out with Gage, Katie and I
went to his house. That night
is now affectionately known as "Gage Night 2004." We stayed
up all night talking about everything and anything. We
kept on calling and talking to each other after that night and
haven't really stopped since (Gage won't admit it, but I totally
called him first.) One conversation we had was about school
and our majors. I made a joke that all he did for school
was make Popsicle-stick houses. When I came back from
General Conference in Utah, he surprised me at the airport with
a Popsicle-stick house with all of my favorite candy inside.
Who wouldn't fall in love with a man that knows your favorite
chocolate?
Falling in love with him was one of the easiest and best things
that has ever happened in my life. He is my best friend.
I laugh with him, smile with him, and cry on his shoulder at all
of life's mishaps. Getting to marry him makes me the luckiest
girl in the world.
Gage's Story:
We met the weekend my car blew
it's last fan belt while driving my friend, Katie, home to Long
Beach. Amy's name had always been dropped when Katie would tell
me who of her LB crew might be around when I'd go down to hang
out with her but I had yet to meet Amy. A couple Saturdays later,
Amy and Katie came up and hung out with a buddy and me and that's
when we first really hit it off. We fall for each other more and
more everyday. Officially we started dating on her birthday. To
win her heart that night, I sang a Charlie Mars song to her w/
a guitar in a tux and barefoot [because I had thrown out my tux
shoes] at her B-day party in front of every-one...Serious brownie
points for me. She had no idea. It was awesome. I got everyone
to sing at the end when I changed the lyrics to 'Baby you make
me feel like I am walkin' on a moon' to 'Amy you make me feel like
I am walking on a moon'. Everyone started singing it [thankfully
not leaving me hanging']. It was awesome! I am still tingling [and
shaking] from that and it's been a wonderful ride since then. I
love her more every day.
